Inspired by travel - infected with wanderlust
My name is Fred Depraetere. I'm a Belgian based global traveler who was already exploring the world at a young age thanks to my ex-pat parents.​
My Story
​Not only have I lived in places like Japan, Kenya, Indonesia and the UK, I have also managed to visit around 70 countries to date. I became hooked on travel from a young age and with my travel enthousiastic parents also managed to see some amazing places that have long since changed - including doing the Trans-Siberian express across China, Mongolia and Russia when the country was still the USSR, but also visiting Japan as an early "Gaijin" (foreigner) in the 1970's and 80's and being able to explore wonders like Bali before it was inundated with tourists.
Today I'm a marketing and communications freelancer which gives me the time and possibility to travel a lot. I also had the chance to travel a lot prior to starting my own company thanks to global roles in major multinationals, taking me to amazing places such as Shanghai in China, Tamil Nadu Province in India, the UAE, the US and a significant number of European countries.

Today I share my passion for travel (have a serious wanderlust infection ;-)) with my 3 kids and my girlfriend.

I have tried to be as detailed as possible in my posts to give you as much information as possible and hope it helps! To give you additional insights I also post news items related to new destinations, new hotel openings, airline news and other relevant items that may be of value.
